NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes text commentary for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available on select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and following last week's talk about two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games were the amount of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they kind of beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this weekend.

But it was good to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall before direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, securing the game 21-17.

Denver have the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They are first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing extra defenders but they might position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has stepped up significantly while new running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows how Denver represent a squad aiming to run first, since you can do a lot off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable down and distances.

This has benefited QB Bo Nix, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to pass anywhere, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, the capacity to throw while moving, as well as using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you constantly rush it consumes time and forces the defence to be in play extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense must defend the field vertically and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like play-dough. The coach can really develop him how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to hold their division. The key to do to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.

This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
