The Popular Show Campaign 4 Introduces the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
