The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a tabletop RPG set within the series' post-pandemic landscape. This initiative has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in New York City, plunging the nation into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents enter the story.

Work on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a broader audience, particularly in North America. Manufacturing will start right after the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it employs d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, participants choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system is designed to favor coordination and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Novel Health System

The way injuries is tracked introduces a interesting narrative layer. Agents have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a injury chart, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
