It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.
