Viktor Gyokeres moved to Arsenal after leaving Sporting this summer

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres fails to make the cut from the new manager's initial Swedish national team selection, whereas Liverpool forward the talented attacker received a place

Gyokeres is due to undergo more examinations in the coming days amid worries he suffered a hamstring injury in Arsenal's English top flight victory at the Clarets on Saturday

The 27-year-old sat out Arsenal' Champions League success against Slavia Prague earlier this week

Alexander Isak Makes Comeback

Isak, who hasn't featured since 22 October due to a groin injury, has been chosen for World Cup qualifying matches versus the Swiss team (November 15th) and the Slovenian side (November 18th)

Additional England-based Call-ups

  • Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from concussion
  • Newcastle wide player the Swedish international

Both athletes feature in the Premier League contingent named under former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham boss the new Swedish coach

The New Manager's Role

The English manager took over the Swedish federation originally on a short-term basis on 20 October, under four weeks after he was dismissed by the Hammers

Previous boss Jon Dahl Tomasson lost his job after Sweden's defeat against Kosovo on 13 October, an outcome which rendered automatic qualification in qualifying group impossible

Present Standing

Sweden are currently last place in Group B with only a single point from their opening four games

Even if they don't manage to finish second, there remains a chance they might be involved in the qualification playoffs as a result thanks to their showing in the latest Nations League
