Soccer Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global hiatus, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
Murs' new album, the new release, is out on Friday.
Football and Parenting Life
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football team," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.
West Ham's only on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.
So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
My son told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.
However I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
