Our Task Consists of Only Eliminating' - How Sudan's Vicious Militia Carried out a Massacre

Caution: This Story Contains Graphic Accounts of Executions.

Militiamen smirk as they ride on the rear of a transport truck, speeding past a line of multiple corpses and heading in the direction of the descending African evening sky.

"Look at such accomplishment. Observe this genocide," a combatant cheers.

The individual smiles as he points the video equipment on his person and his fellow militiamen, their Rapid Support Forces badges on display: "They will all be killed in this manner."

The men are rejoicing over a atrocity that humanitarian officials suspect claimed the lives of over thousands of people in the Sudan's city of the Darfur city during October.

A Community Isolated from the Outside

Having held the city under blockade for almost 24 months, from late summer the paramilitary force advanced to reinforce its position and prevent access for the remaining residents.

Space-based imagery demonstrate that fighters commenced to construct a massive sand wall - a built-up earthen wall - around the boundaries of the city, blocking access routes and preventing aid.

As the siege intensified, multiple individuals were murdered in an militia attack on a religious building on mid-September, while the United Nations stated dozens further were killed in unmanned aircraft and heavy weapon bombardments on a displacement camp in the autumn.

Explicit Video Shows Defenseless Civilians Executed

At dawn on late October the paramilitary force defeated the final army strongholds and seized the primary headquarters in the community, the headquarters of the Army Division, as the army pulled back.

One of the most disturbing footage to appear and examined showed the consequences of a mass killing at a educational facility on the western of the urban area, where scores lifeless forms were visible spread throughout the area.

An older individual clad in a traditional garment was seated isolated surrounded by the bodies. He looked to look as a fighter armed with a weapon proceeded down the stairs in the direction of him. Raising his weapon, the shooter discharged a single round at the victim, who dropped to the ground still.

"For what reason is this one even living," a militiaman cried. "Execute this one."

Orbital photography captured on 26 October indicated to verify that shootings were also performed on the streets of el-Fasher, as reported by a report issued by the university analysis team.

A key witness who communicated reported they had witnessed "many of our family members being killed - the victims were assembled in one place and all eliminated."

RSF Leaders Attempt to Implement Damage Control

In the days that followed the atrocity, militia commander acknowledged that his forces had perpetrated "wrongdoings" and announced the occurrences would be looked into.

Included among detained was after a report documenting his murders. Carefully choreographed and modified recording shared on the paramilitary's formal social media platform depict the individual being taken into a detention area at a prison on the outskirts of the city.

At the same time, the militia and associated social media accounts began trying to alter the account.

Posts depicting its combatants providing supplies to civilians were shared by various individuals, while the paramilitary's media office shared several clips purporting to show the humane handling of army prisoners of war.

In spite of the digital effort being employed by the paramilitary, their actions in the city have generated worldwide outrage.
