Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
