Former BBC Advisers Participate in Members of Parliament's Questioning In the Wake of Claims of Partiality in Leaked Memorandum

Previous BBC specialists appearing at MPs

We begin with questions from Conservative MP the committee chair, that chairs the panel.

She commences by giving background to the unauthorized document authored by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.

"It is not my wish for the BBC leaning toward one side or the other, I just want it balanced, impartial and fair," he declares.

Upon being questioned if he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, he answers: "No I don't. Let's be clear, numerous aspects the BBC does is exceptional - including factual and non-factual content."

However, he continues: "There is significant effort that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

The second ex-adviser BBC consultant examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" on fluid and multifaceted subjects.

"Whether the BBC was willing to have a genuine conversation and argument and take action?" she questions. "In my view, indeed, they were."
