Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
