The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many fans into the NFL
This outcome could have created opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an edge over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a monster clash next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were outperformed from the start as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 victors in an eye-opening outcome - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's opening first down in the third period and first points in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the league's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the NFL's top running game was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5 yard season average
Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - not the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've seen this season
Miami have served up a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of something, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the top of the AFC East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're among three 8-2 teams in the league, all American Football Conference teams, but could they be the top team?
One could find flaws in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their total 24 wins coming against opponents with a positive record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their primtime win in Buffalo seems like a declaration
Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's first three games, with seven straight wins, similar to Denver, from that point - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was huge
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he certainly earns credit for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to steer his team to victory
The defensive unit is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to break 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the top record due to their remaining opponents - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against Buffalo
Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who could also compete for first place but face the same problem) and also the Packers on the schedule
The Indianapolis also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There's a long way to travel but the opportunity is open for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Clash
Two teams with solid claims to be superior to all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who both scored 40 burgers to go to 7-2 ahead of the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster game between the pair in Los Angeles
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a contest
Both could realistically be without a loss as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the last kick deflected and run back by the Eagles for a score
The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely two of the top teams in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the year to date
Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor could be on for a record season after his incredible display in Germany - running for 244 rushing yards, scoring three scores and adding an additional forty-two {receiving yards
